Innovate Split 2026 wrapped up last week at Tehnološki park Split, and for us it was a busy two days, with a panel on the Tech Frontiers stage, a Serwizz pitch on Founders & Capital, a booth that didn't have many quiet moments and our second year in a row as a sponsor of the conference. It's the second edition of Innovate Split, it runs across four stages in English, and it's become the place in Split where people building software and people running yards, service crews and construction sites end up in the same hallway, and that's the mix we want to be part of.

From paper to smart operations

Last year I sat on a panel here about digital transformation in service industries, and this year I was on the other side of the table as moderator of "AI-driven digital transformation: from paper to smart operations", with Goran Milavić from Capax, Grgo Bućan from Cian and Robert Krešo from Alfa Therm. Yacht refit, environmental services and HVAC don't have much in common at first glance, but all three companies started out on paper, all three moved a good part of their work into a system, and each of them got there a different way, which made for a better conversation than three people agreeing with each other for 40 minutes.

We kept it on the practical side, what problem they were trying to solve, what changed once people started using the system, what didn't go to plan and where AI shows up in their day-to-day work today, and the stories about what went wrong turned out to be the most useful part for the room.

The conclusion is simple. Everyone wants AI, but before you bring it into a company and make it part of everyday work, you still need a clear process, good data and people who are ready for the change. Removing the paper is the easier part of the job, it's everything that comes before it that decides whether AI has anything to work with later. At one point I challenged the title of our own panel and asked whether most companies are in an AI-driven transformation yet or still building the foundations AI will depend on, and it's a question worth asking inside your own company before anyone signs up for the next AI tool. I wrote about the same pattern in more detail in AI-driven digital transformation: why teams resist and where companies get stuck.

Thank you to our panelists for sharing the real stories behind their transformations.

Serwizz on the Founders & Capital stage

On the same day our CTO Josip Brčić presented Serwizz at the TPS Demo Session to a full room, followed by Q&A. Serwizz is the CMMS we build for maintenance and service teams that still run work orders on paper, WhatsApp and spreadsheets, so the pitch and the panel ended up covering the same problem from two different stages.

The booth and the merch

Our booth ran under "Your partner for digital transformation and custom software" both days, and most of the good conversations happened there, with people coming by to see Serwizz live, ask what we're working on or tell us how their own company still handles paperwork.

We made Workspace t-shirts, canvas tote bags, mugs and pens for the occasion, and if one of those mugs ended up on your desk, send us a photo.

Second year as sponsor

We supported Innovate Split as a sponsor in 2025 and did it again this year, because a local conference only gets to a second and third edition if local companies back it. I would like to thank our organisers, Tehnološki park Split and the RaST team, for bringing us all under the same roof for the second year in a row, and for keeping this event at a level that even bigger and older conferences would be proud of.

If we talked at the booth or after the panel and you want to pick the conversation back up, get in touch, and we'll see you at the next edition.
